Normalish days...have a minute...short note

I really like rainy days, and we have seen many of those this Spring. Everything is GREEN and lush and beautiful, but I have no pictures.

The flowering trees are done flowering--mostly, and there is very little pollen in the air. Actually today there is none, as it is raining a beautiful steady rain.

Enough of the weather report.

Knitted some baby booties for 2c and 5b--pink of course.

for their American Girl dollies.

Since rainy days are conducive to reading, I have been reading A WHOLE LOT--loooove to read.
These are the complete works of John Wesley. It will take me a while to read all of volumes, but his narratives are very entertaining. I have read most of one volume.

Then, I pulled this one, off the shelf. It is so FULL of historical information. The author, Alfred Edersheim, was a Jewish man who became a born again Christian. Edersheim's perspective is wonderful. (he has some minor things that I don't agree with, but...who does not?)
These men of old--like Wesley and Edersheim--who lived in the 18th and 19th century respectively, loved the Lord, loved the Word of the Lord, and spent much time studying, researching and learning. All of it to our benefit, and even if they did not know it, to the glory of God.
When I received a gift certificate to Michael's for my birthday, I went quickly to purchase yarn (poor me, I did not have enough, sigh...) to make a ripple afghan. I had seen the ripples that Attic24 had made, and was inspired to replicate one. So, a couple of months ago I stood for more than an hour, in front of the multitude of yarns, choosing the 'right' colors.

Here is a peek...
It is the 'soft ripple' pattern. I enjoy looking at her colorful blog.

Better get busy. I need to make bread, but maybe tomorrow, Lord willing. I will do it.

I'll leave you with this:

Still here

I've not gone away...I am here.

I have been busy...very busy...as my Mom has required more of my time. Hopefully, all is going back to 'normal'.

Have not done any...knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking--only the absolutely necessary. Knowing that everyone goes through these kinds of things, I am hopeful to return to my regular activities, chores, and domestic doings soon.

I'll leave you with this:

I'm here...doing home repairs...cloud of ash...

Hiya girlies! We've been doing many preparations for painting the house. Getting new gutters, and repairing the rot caused by the roofer's incompetence. Oh, well...Our repair helpers found all the rot--which was 'miraculously' not as bad as they thought--THANK YOU LORD!

Have more dust than I care to speak of. We have all the windows open, since it's nice weather, and all the pollen (which is supposed to be around the 100s has broken all records and is in the 5,000s) covers all the surfaces in our home. I cannot see turning the AC on yet, even if it means saving myself from dusting yellow dust. Hopefully we'll get some rain tonight and it will wash the pollen off the air, giving me a respite.

By the way, this is not as bad as my girls in the UK have it, with the Iceland volcano's plume of ash. Sorry ladies...pray for your leaders...

Great going! Now, Who is in charge of air particles-to-'diverse junk' ratio? Hmmm? And all glory goes to HIM who made heaven and earth. WooHoo! have you seen the pics? It seems that some people should stay at home today, in Europe...echoes of 'pillar of cloud by day'...Didn't the 'Pharaoes' have some sort of 'summit' yesterday, and said some words against Israel?

Well, the Lord is the Lord, so...sing with me: "Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. " Psa 72:18 -19

Hope to come with pictures, and maybe, shortly.

I'll leave you with this:

Grumpy right offf the bat!

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is soooo joyful/happy/elated/delighted/and just-plain-giddy with the fact that SPRING is here. NOT ME!

Bah-humbug...

What is spring, after all? that all people everywhere couldn't wait for it to arrive. I'll tell you what it is--it doesn't matter that you are running around the kitchen with your hands in your ears, yelling: "I can't heeeear youuuuu"...I'll tell you anyway!

SPRING IS...rolled down car windows so you can get the fresh, crystal clear air, and a heavy smoker stops at the same lights you do, for your entire trip on the Boulevard.

SPRING IS...taking a walk around the neighbourhood, to see the neighbours and say hi...but they are all burning their leaves.

SPRING IS...going to the park to catch a glimpse of the deer and other pretty critters...and all the bikers in the whole world deciding to do the same thing, arriving all at the same time and revving up an unbearable cacophony.

SPRING IS...the mosquitoes are back!

SPRING IS...the high school people on spring break, and their music causing a 6.6 rumble on the Rickter scale.

SPRING IS...not being grumpy.

I AM NOT GRUMPY!...It only sounds like it. I just looked out, and there is a FULL MOON! Arf!

SPRING IS...seeds for pretty flowers, crispy lettuce, plump tomatoes, snap peas, and all the rest!

I'll leave you with this:

"While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Gen 8:22

Working on the sleeves of the pink baby sweater

I'm listening to an audio book on RealPlayer. My screen is showing Anabel the sheep. She is very entertaining, but...I'm too busy to watch her. [the book: Final Authority by Dr. Wm. Grady]

I'm working on the sleeves of the notorious pink baby sweater. The stitch that I 'made up' is as follows.
Multiple of 3 stitches
Row 1: purl
Row 2: *k3, pass 1st stitch over the next two stitches, y/o * repeat to the end of the row
Row 3: purl
Row 4: knit
Row 5: purl
Row 6: repeat from Row 2

There! that is easy, almost brainless. Good basketball game knitting.

Close up is not great, but you get the idea.
For the sleeves, I started with 5 dps but it was difficult to psso the 2 sts ( the dps are bamboo) so I went to my straight needles. I do not mind sewing the sleeve.

These simply adorable baby booties are for a newborn (boy) at church. Hoping he has not outgrown them by next Sunday. (Last Sunday we had almost 12" of snow and did not go to church.)

I got them from here. However, the 'subtitles' that give the instructions are not complete. Go here to get the written instructions. They were a cinch!...er...they were delightful to knit.
I'll leave you with this:

"Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. " Daniel 6:12

Assisting the gas company...well, their commercial

I think this is a VERY CLEVER commercial, as commercials go. Perhaps because I like all things to do with knitting. Please go see Little Jenny Wren's blog, she posted 2 youtubes. One is the making of the commercial, the other is the actual commercial. It is easier to send you to her than to post the youtubes here.

Lazy? not really.

I'll leave you with this:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. " Philipians 4:8

Finished EZ's blanket...now I see a pinwheel

[by the way...10 more inches of snow in one day...welcome to SPRING!]

Those loose threads being tucked the blanket is finished!

The ugly symbol has dissappeared and it has become a pinwheel. It reminds me of a quilt block.

What a relief...

I finished the edge with an applied i-cord using (but modifying) the instructions from here.

It was fun and fast to make this applied i-cord. It makes the edge look very complete, and since it's for a boy, very appropriate.

The edge is so neat, I keep looking at it, in admiration. Try it on your next edge. Perhaps, on a dishcloth, so you can see quick results. It is the same on both sides.

(nice blue fingers!...the blanket is the right color...sort-of...Oh, no! now you know I'm from the planet Blueto...sigh...!!)

The green cover I made in one day. It is for my kitchen stool. You have to know that we've had this black vinyl kitchen stool in that corner since...for-eh-ver! Its assignment was to give repose to those on the phone, and while cooking or baking, a small respite.

Now every-bo-dy has a cell phone, but everybody who gets or makes a phone call while in the kitchen, goes to sit at the stool...force of habit, to the max! Still have the land line, need a new one--it is acting up.

The green matches the green on the wallpaper, although it does not appear like it in this pic.

The cover is snug enough that it should not come off [it has been put to the test, and passed]

I'll leave you with this:
