Almost forgot...

I (sort of) complained about being stresssssed...well I forgot the most stressing thing of all...helping my goater friend dehorn a new batch of babies--no pictures. It takes her 10 seconds per horn, and the kid doe or kid buck do not experience discomfort by that...but they sure don't like to be held tightly. Although she had a box made for that specific procedure, I had to hold their heads (one-at-a-time) from the up and down, and, side to side jerky motions.

One Momma

Since it was the first time I helped, and had never seen it done, she told me exactly what to do and how to do it...and she encouraged me by saying that I did very well. Nevertheless, it was much, much more different than anything else, that I've helped her with.

I was the one stressed, not the goats, and not the goater...who laughed--kindly--at me. I was most concerned with hurting the baby goats than anything else.

It all finished well, even, holding each one of them in my arms while she gave them their tetanus shots.
Another Momma and two kids...in the back is the goat's 'igloo'

And Papa...his name is Snickers...such a gentle, gentle buck...relaxing and eating his alfalfa hay.
He produces very gentle offspring.

Still here, folks! and goat update.

DH has restored my computer, but still cannot get on-line...one day, soon I shall be back with updates.

Now, it seems that not being on-line has deprived me of the knowledge of many things, recently developed. One of my favorites: bellamamasprairielife, has become "by invitation," sigh...and I don't know about the rest of my favorites, cannot go there. Well, if these ladies have sent me emails, I cannot look at emails either, sigh again...

But, be of good cheer, I'm getting other things done.

Oh, by the way. Remember Kali, the goat, that was expecting triplets? She had three bucks, but two are no more. They were over 8lbs each, (wholly big bucks, batman!!!!) My friend had to call her friend the Vet to assist. The bucks had to be 'taken out' to give the one alive a chance. If the Vet had not come immediately, my goater friend would have lost, even Kali. Kali has not entirely rejected her baby buck, but he will not nurse from Momma Kali...so my friend has been feeding 'Donny" with a baby-buck-syringe. Poor Kali she is very skinny and gaining strength. All shall be well with her.
All this drama happened one week ago, Saturday.
I'll have pictures, soon.

I'll leave you with this:

Look at these pretty Goats

My goater holding the new baby doe--one of Sable's twins.

Kali is expecting is a few weeks. She may be having triplets. Woohoo!

Momma Sable with the baby buck--the other twin.

Molly chewing her cud in the shade--Sable's offspring from two years ago. In the forefront is one of the meat goats. She was just purchased by the rancher who will do the last step--about 6 more months of growing before it graces someone's table. (Oh, no! Mr. Bill!!)

These alpine goats are just lovely, they recognize my voice and come when I call them.

These are at their peak today, and just as pretty as the 'girls'

Crab Apple blossoms.

Hoping these pictures put a smile on your face.

UFO crochet and Alpine goats

I have a couple of unfinished crochet pieces. This one will be a 'hello kitty' purse for one of my baby girls. I got this great idea from "my" new teacher She is in Brazil, and I do not speak Portuguese, but she is very thorough and if you know a little about crochet, you will 'understand' her--rather her instruction YouTubes. She has lots and lots of things that she shows how to make and lots and lots of stitches demonstrated. She also has her CDs for sale (don't know how to buy internationally)
The handles of the purse are made of the Romanian Stitch from Sunshine's blog, she also has a teaching video on her blog--I really love her stuff.

These are the parts to a dolly/ducky--have not decided yet--and the arms and the legs are my first attempt to making the Romanian Stitch {which I did not get until I was finished and checked the tutorial again} But this pleases me well, and works for arms and legs since it is more flexible than the real thing.

We went 'garaging' last Saturday and I found this baking stone with its own trivet....25c...could not pass it up. Maybe some of my people will like to have it, since I already have one. These work great for making Nan (Indian flat bread--sort-of-like pita) to make mini pizzas or dip in Hommus, or peanut butter and jelly, or tuna salad with tomatoes...you decide.

The tomatoes are finally ripening. I love home grown tomatoes. Especially with Hellman's Mayonnaise and tuna salad. So yummy. We are staying ahead of the squirrels this year (Thank you, Lord!) One of them had a squirrel bite which began to 'decay' I'll cut it off.

Last week I took #4a and #4b to see 'my' goats (from whom I get my milk every week) and took some pics of the kids and the children. This is Cally (the nanny) and #4a

This is one baby girl peeking at another baby girl--Sammie the baby goat, and #4b the baby girl.

The 'goater' in blue is my friend Mrs. M with Samantha and her 'momma' Mattie and her 'aunt' Millie

It seems that the humidity has been overcome by a dry front. It feels so much nicer. We've had the most humid summer that I remember. (The 'weather guy' says that the hottest part is over) I hope he is right.
