I think this is a VERY CLEVER commercial, as commercials go. Perhaps because I like all things to do with knitting. Please go see Little Jenny Wren's blog, she posted 2 youtubes. Finished EZ's blanket...now I see a pinwheel

[by the way...10 more inches of snow in one day...welcome to SPRING!]


Those loose threads being tucked the blanket is finished!


The ugly symbol has dissappeared and it has become a pinwheel. It reminds me of a quilt block.





What a relief...


I finished the edge with an applied i-cord using (but modifying) the instructions from here.

It was fun and fast to make this applied i-cord. It makes the edge look very complete, and since it's for a boy, very appropriate.

The edge is so neat, I keep looking at it, in admiration. Try it on your next edge. Perhaps, on a dishcloth, so you can see quick results. It is the same on both sides.

(nice blue fingers!...the blanket is the right color...sort-of...Oh, no! now you know I'm from the planet Blueto...sigh...!!)

The green cover I made in one day. It is for my kitchen stool. You have to know that we've had this black vinyl kitchen stool in that corner since...for-eh-ver! Its assignment was to give repose to those on the phone, and while cooking or baking, a small respite.

Now every-bo-dy has a cell phone, but everybody who gets or makes a phone call while in the kitchen, goes to sit at the stool...force of habit, to the max! Still have the land line, need a new one--it is acting up.

The green matches the green on the wallpaper, although it does not appear like it in this pic.

The cover is snug enough that it should not come off [it has been put to the test, and passed]

Taking a second...er...seventh...look at something...

DoooDaaaahh...I know that language barrier is a barrier, but, being that 'I dare' to 'figure out' stuff...I begun to cast on...knit...unravel...cast on...knit...unravel...and so on, and so on. You know what I'm talking about, don't you?

I was 'bound and determined' to knit this baby sweater, and watched this video more than 10 times, stopping and counting. After many attempts, I think, I have it figured. Obviously the stitch is not the same, but I'll get that one soon, also. (The Lord opening my understanding.)

I never heard from Tessituras, but maybe she has no way of translating into English like I have noone who can help me with Brazilian/Portugese. Her blog is so cute, I enjoy the pictures she posts. I can understand one word in each paragraph...maybe.

So here we are:

I've come to the sleeves and will do this stitch that I sort-of made up...I know, I know it probably exists in some book or blog already...

I'm pleased with the results.

Looking pretty good as is, but I will finish the sleeves.

Almost finished with the 'swastika' blanket...I'll show you later. The EVIL SYMBOL almost disappears now that it's all sewn. (my people were right!)

Finished sweater and scarf

It's been so long that I almost forgot my password...not really, but...

Ok, here I am, and always hoping to be back often. I find that I have lots more to do than I like to place here for the 'whole world' to see, i.e., cleaning house, doing chores, going shopping (arrrgh!) mending, and all those mundane things.

I would like to show you splendid accomplishments [and I will when I do them], share wise things that I have read or heard, but...there isn't enough time. Some of 'my' bloggers seem to have all of the above right at my fingertips...maybe they do nothing else...sigh! [and another deep sigggghhhh!]

Now, I'm sharing SOME of my recent accomplishment, albeit, not quite so splendid.

Beautiful scarf for Mrs. #2, she did love it, and wears it. [I ran into her at the grocery store...not an usual occurrence...and she was wearing it!]

Also, 2c's pink sweater...2c loooooved it...she is such a pink girlie girl.

Next I have a {maybe minor} horror story. I found the garter stitch EZ blanket pattern in my Winter 94-95 Vogue Knitting. p.24

I must insert here that I started looking for the pattern through all my magazines. [I knew I had it somewhere.] When I saw it in here I like her blog, especially her fish afghan. But this 'puzzle' caught my eye, and I proceeded to retrieve my copy.

Now, looking at the picture all I saw was two pieces fitting together, right? So, since I like to knit 'odd' shapes, i.e., Cat Bordhi's things, I proceeded to find the right yarn, for the right baby...in this case 3g. No biggy...it was so nice to knit all garter stitch, it just went so smoothly...and soon, I was finished knitting. Found the magazine again to see the assembly lay-out and to my HORROR...a swastika formed in the middle...a SWASTIKA!!! and from EZ, no way, NO WAY!!

But, there it is...sigh...[with a major GRUNT in the middle]

All that saw it said it may go away when I sew it together--which, I have not been able to complete...still in sort-of knitter's shock. Did anybody else see this before? I have not asked 'knit, knit, frog' if she saw it when she sewed hers. I would like to get some feedback from you ALL.

It could be that nobody else has a problem with the swastika, BUT I DO. So, my dilemma is whether to complete this blanket, or take it apart and knit something sweet for sweet baby 3g.

Show and Tell time...

Here we go again!...this time, and so far 5 1/2 inches of snow...it is beautiful, but you probably have the same amount or more, or are about to get it...will not bore you with more snow pictures.
I have not been idle: knitted this "practice" baby blanket from Dianaknits for a dolly. It went pretty well--once I got going. There is absolutely no sewing per se, but I will have to 'tuck the tails' It's a very soft cone yarn, but becomes furry...it's a 'practice' blanket...remember.

Here we have, yet another mobius. They are so fun to knit...sort of brainless knitting...really like it.

the color is peaches and cream, kind-of.

This pink sweater (for 2c) is hugging my Cat Bordhi sock book. The sweater it on its way to the blocking table...ready soon.

The peacock lace scarf (on its way to the blocking table, also) is for Mrs. #2. I hope she likes it.

And now...drum roll...the socks: applause, applause, applause...thank you...soooo much...you are so kind...Although they may not look like it, they ARE a pair. My friend is the only one who will have these. Cat Bordhi, again. From the above pictured book...and so much fun to make. Thank you Cat.

I know, I know...everybody has snow and cold...

Ok, so it starts raining, then freezing drizzling. A little while later it turns into sleet, and eventually snow. They had been predicting 2 to 4, 3 to 6, and then 4 to 8, finally: 10 to 13. I was, like, glued to the intellicast radar screen...After a while it did not matter anymore. We had gotten the groceries my Mom needed (she does not go out in bad weather) so we were snug.

I have this theory [probably borrowed it from somebody's Grandma] that for every snow bird at the feeder, there will be an inch of snow. It has worked...pretty accurately, for over a decade...so
I figured we would get the higher number predicted...see?...



All these are snow birds or juncos...Now...whaddaya think?

Then it turned cold...


My DH brought me these from his 'greenhouse' in the garage, where he keeps the fig 'trees', the messy asparragus fern, and the geraniums. Lovely...pink and white...makes the foot [and more] of snow and the sub zero wind chills, not so bad.
Being all snug indoors, and not venturing out, except for...well, actually nothing...I got some projects finished. Here is one for a pink 2c.

This one is the trophy of the next completed project.

Now DH will wear it...bobtailed, so to speak.

Made this with several weights of yarn bits, just because...


Today it was suppossed to be warm, {high temp made it to 25F, yea!} so I found and old can in the back of the cupboard, from last year. It had 3 servings left, so I had one.

Also today, I got my KnitPicks catalogue.

I started a pair of socks, using Cat Bordhi's 'different type' of sock.


Last weekend, DH helped me clean out the clutter in my knitting room, and placed the ice cream container shelves where I wanted them...thank you Baskin-Robbins.

By the way...we had 9 inches, then 4 inches, then 5 inches...although some has sublimated in the sunshine. We had not been above 25F yet...good bye stubborn bugs, and lawn cootties...
