Wow!, I found it, I found it!...I tot I toh, a putty-tat.

Been looking for this book for a couple of years. The book was just as elusive as Sylvester's appearances near Tweety.

It is the Decorative Needlepoint book by Julia Hickman. Well, I remember having checked out of our library a zillion times, and then...actually, I saw this picture in Sunshine's Creations in 2006, and I remembered that I loved the pattern. I found out that the library had discarded the book for lack of 'checking it out'...if I had know, I would have checked it out tons of times more...oh, well! I had been looking for it, since. (I'm giving you Sunshine's link--although I would like to post her picture, but I don't have her permission to post it, maybe I should ask her.)

Needless to say, I could not remember the name of the book, just the picture engraved in my mind of the multicoloured exquisite pattern. As much as I tried I could not find it by googling...maybe one day they'll have googling by description...or sketch...but, here it is!

Went to Half Price Books, last week and saw it there! I was so glad. DH said: "Get it!" so I did.

Two pictures from the book.

I know that some of you do not like busy, busy patterns as this one, but there may be some of you who would. Enjoy the close-up. I was surprised that it came out so well.

Another book:

Found this one in my home library, and decided to read it. I had gotten it several years ago, but never read it. Two chapters into it and I'm, already, squirming about bad grammar applications. Isaac Watts was a prolific writer, and not only of hymns. If you come across this book at your library, check it out. In my opinion, we all need to know "how" to think logically. Since 'they have stopped teaching it in schools, it is up to us SAHMs to do it.

Back to needlepoint:
Finished this piece--I think chickens are cute--many years ago, and it still hangs there, on its stretcher board. It was supposed to be a pillow...maybe it will be, one day...in the far future. I particularly like the band on which the basket sits...sort of Kaffe Fassett-esque.

This is "shark's tooth" technique, that I did a while ago. I have a video of Martha Pullen's where she shows this patterns. In my opinion, it is too time consuming for the results. Looks very nice on collars, or bodices of dresses or blouses.

Finally,
and just 'for the pretty, and homey look' this in my friend's back door. The inside of the house matches the door. So inviting...a cup of ice cold lemonade, and a slice of lemon pie, and you're set!

I'll leave you with this:

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." Psa 27:14

WORDS! They are so important: Emergent/Emerging

I have to dare "to go here" This issue is spreading faster than a rumor. It is more insidious than a lie, and it has taken over the affections of hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting church-goers.

It is the Emerging/Emergent [sic.] Church.

There are hundreds, if not more, places on line to go see all that is being shown about it. Many have taken upon themselves the task of exposing this so-called movement, by thorough [if not exhaustive--even exhausting] investigation. You have all of this available to you, to decide for yourself. (a couple of them are: Mike Hoggard and David Cloud check them out.

I will flee from this 'rising up' since it comes from "the rulers of the darkness of this world." But as I am wont to do, I will share the meaning of the word they have chosen. EMERGENT/EMERGING:

Emerge, 1563, from M.Fr. emerger, from L. emergere "rise out or up," from ex- "out" + mergere "to dip, sink" The notion is of rising from a liquid by virtue of buoyancy. Emergency "unforeseen occurrence" is c.1631. Emergent (adj.) was first recorded c.1450.

emergent –adjective
1.coming into view or notice; issuing.
2.emerging; rising from a liquid or other surrounding medium. (et.al.)
Origin: 1350–1400; ME

"And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy." Rev 13:1

Since this so-called movement has its provenance in the "monument to glass" (church) in California, it will not raise all eyebrows, only those who "love thy law"(Ps 119:97), those who "tremble at his word"(Isa. 66:5), those who "seek first the Kingdom of God" (Matt. 6:33) and those whose "soul panteth after God" (Ps. 42:1)

Ponder how subtly you are being made to go to "Rome in a ship of Alexandria", be alert!, pay attention. Prepare to defend your faith. Do not enlarge the pockets--and off shore accounts--of the makers of deceptions. (Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. Psa 120:2)

The World can do as it wishes, but the children of the Living God, must abide in His Word.
"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. " John 17:14

I'll leave you with this:

"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Rom 13:12

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" Eph 6:10-18
