Hellooooo!...and such a long time

I have been here all along, my computer--rather my conection has been seceding from the norm.  Hey, what can I say?

Perhaps I must have reported a blog brake.  Well it wasn't planned but, nevertheless it was a blog brake.
All's well, and my plan is to get back to blogging regularly...but all of you know that plans are only plans and for the future; therefore, they remain plans.

I am glad to report that Mr. PeasantHouse's fishies survived the 3" of ice above them.

And, he, being delighted that he can work in the garden, commissioned #2 to bring a trailer full of sand for the root vegetables.  They have made the garden-almost-twice as wide as it has been for 'always'.  Perhaps we will have a couple of horseradish plants--I loooove horseradish!  I shall endeavour to update you on this matter. Oh, no! a Jeep in my backyard!!!! (how fun!) delivering the sand.

Finished the mustardy color socks and have started on the bluey-stripey pair.  They may be ready just in time for the day when we turn on the AC, like many of my projects are...sigh...

"I'm going to the harware store...I'll be right back!" said Mr. PeasantHouse...a long time passed, much more than the regular hardware store run...I was wondering what could be taking so long...garage sales, you say?
yup! He saw this bag full of yarn...and for $2.00...he knows a bargain...so he got it for me.  Boy-o-boy!
Now...what to do with synthetic, rug yarn...? I will have to dig out my rug-looping-walking-as-you-loop tool and see  if I remember how to use it.  I have a piece of 'rug fabric' and I will give it a go.

I hope you can see my fine mending.  One of my bottom sheets 'sprung' a hole--maybe we need new sheets--I thought I would try mending and patching and see how much longer I can go without putting out tons of money for new sheets.  Sticker shock is not limited to cars anymore.  Nobody sells just bottom sheets for our California King.  Well, actually some do but at $90.00 a pop.  I can get an entire set for that much.
This side is the small weaving to fill in the hole. (click on pic to enbiggen)

And the reverse side is the patch.  Still have to do the cross stitching/quilting that will ensure a longer life.
I remember sleeping on patched sheets at my Grandma's when I was a child.  I even remember seeing her patching the sheets...summer afternoons, on the patio, under the concord grape vine...well, this mending was done in my basement while the laundry was going.  The closest thing to that idillic picture is a can of frozen Welche's in my freezer...not idillic, but just as tasty.

Better go get something done before I start dinner, it's been so nice sharing this with all of you, and happy to be back.

I'll leave you with this:

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans  5:8

In His hands,  ^__^
