Still baking...one old picture

Had to run yesterday and did not have time to come back.

Took my Mom to her hair lady. It was so icy...I slid a few times but did not fishtailed, thank the Lord.

I don't understand how a huge mass of Pacific moist air can override an Arctic cold air front. The weather guy explains it, and it makes lots of sense...physically speaking...hot and humid air rises, but cold dry air sinks (is this boring you?) so the rain from the Pacific air mass drops as rain above the Arctic air and cools as it goes through the cold air. The Arctic air--not being dense--allows no time for the rain to re-freeze so, when it reaches the frozen ground--that would be our homes, cars, roads, etc, etc--that very cold rain freezes as it touches the frozen surfaces. Thus resulting in black ice, frozen over snow, frozen windshield wipers [and I mean, crusted on] and all of that wintery stuff.

You who have not experienced this weather phenomenon cannot appreciate the fact that the glazed over key lock in the car is troublesome when one does not have 'keyless entry'

Ok, when I took my Mom back home, I slid backwards on her driveway. Then I backed all the way to the street again and drove over the snow, which gave me the needed traction to get very close to the garage, and the carpeting I had laid down for her to walk on without slipping. It all worked out great. Thank you, Lord.

Today the sun is shining brightly. Temp is around 12F and there is a stiff breeze. The weather guy said that tomorrow it will be 40F and Friday 60F. Do I believe him? The Pacific air mass is relentless, and maybe it would get that high...we shall see. Now it is officialy/calendarically (this is not a word) WINTER.

I will get back to my 'irks' another time. Now, I have to make more seasonal goodies for the 'festivus' celebration.

I'll leave you with this:

"He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow." Psa 147:16-18

Friday--Starts my Birthday Month!!!!!

Today starts my Birthday month. Since I'm over 55 I get to have a Birthday month.
One day in February is my Birthday. But not today.

I like this flip quilt calendar, that I've had for many years. I was considering buying a knitting flip calendar just because I like knitting so much...maybe sometime. This is NOT a hint! I'm not so sure I would like it. No need to surprise me, please.
Not to be sappy, but I'm so gratefull and glad for my family and friends. They bless me daily, although some/most/actually all of them bug me constantly, which is a HUUUUGE blessing. Some of my friends do not hear from their children and families for a long, long time. I love it when they *bug* me. "The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. " Pro 10:22--I saidddd, no sappyness...quickly, let's look at the snow.
Here are some pictures of the last snow we had. Now, it is all gone; but for the few patches.

When I opened the back door to take this picture all the snow blew in like in a Little House on the Prairie storm when Pa comes from getting provisions and all the snow comes in first and them Pa with only one box of 'groceries'. It was great! I would have liked to have a picture of that.
This is the little accumulation on the screen, very picturesque.

You could barely see to the corner of our neighbourhood. I think that it could have qualified as a blizzard, but they called it blowing snow. And again 3"!!!!

I think that our friends to the south, like SM in Oklahoma got a foot, she'll have to let us know.

Got my goat's milk yesterday. It was very windy, which made the temperature near zero degrees F. I had to stand outside for quite a while. I loved it. I was really cold and my fingers and toes were numb. I would not live outdoors, but being so cold every now and then is very invigorating. When I finally got in the car it seemed warm. It was cloudy and I did not feel the heater until one mile from home. I'm glad it was not icing on the windshield.

This is one of my pincusions. I like to make pincushions also. In the back you can see three sweaters that need mending--MOTHS!--a stitch in time saves nine, they say, and it's pretty much true.

This is a little basket with sewing notions for all the knits. I'll leave you with this:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Pro 1:7

Snow, freezing rain, and God's goodness.

This Psalm was good to pray today:
"Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide". Psa 26:1

Thursday we received 3" of snow, pretty, powdery, and quiet; then it warmed up and the roads were just wet. Last night we received--albeit, did not want it--a sheet of ice, maybe 1/8" which is enough to slide all the way to the end of the world! Well...maybe not that far. The street crews did a great job on the main streets and highways and freeways, but our little street is still slippery. We drove, actually, DH drove, very cautiously and we went shopping for groceries, and came home safely, thank you Lord!

Did not take pictures of the snow and ice 'cause I did not think of it. But here is a picture of snow.
This cute kitty belongs to Lolly, from here, he is expressing what I think: Hey! I got my snow! Lolly is a very prolific knitter with tons of pictures. I really like how she captures her kitty in the cutest poses.

Lord willing, tomorrow I'll post a bit more.

I'll leave you with this:
"The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate." Pro 8:13
